Cleaning Agent

Sulfamic acid cleaning agents have a wide range of applications and can be used to clean boilers, condensers, heat exchangers, jackets, and chemical pipelines. In breweries, they are used to remove scale deposits from glass-lined storage tanks, pots, open beer coolers, and beer barrels; to clean evaporators in enamel factories and equipment in paper mills; in air conditioning systems, they can remove rust and scale from cooling systems and evaporative condensers; on ships, they are used to eliminate algae and scale from seawater evaporators (distillation equipment), heat exchangers, and brine heaters; they can clean scale from copper kettles, radiators, dishwashing mechanisms, silverware, toilets, tiles, and food and cheese processing equipment; they can also remove protein deposits from cookers and residues from disinfectant aluminum used in fresh meat, vegetable, and cheese processing plants. The U.S. Department of Agriculture permits the use of sulfamic acid as an acidic cleaning agent in fresh meat, poultry, rabbit, and egg processing enterprises.^[11][18]

Textile Industry

Sulfamic acid can serve as an eliminator of excess nitrite in diazotization reactions in the dye industry, a color fixative in textile dyeing, a flame retardant layer on textiles, and can also be used to produce cleaning agents and other auxiliaries for the textile industry.^[19]

Paper Industry

Sulfamic acid can be used as a bleaching aid, reducing or eliminating the catalytic effect of heavy metal ions in bleaching liquors, thereby ensuring the quality of the bleach and reducing the oxidative degradation of fibers by metal ions. It also prevents the peeling reaction of fibers, improving pulp strength and whiteness.^[15]

Petroleum Industry

Sulfamic acid can be used to unblock oil layers and enhance their permeability. Injecting a sulfamic acid solution into carbonate rock oil reservoirs allows it to react easily with the rock, avoiding the deposition of reaction byproducts. Although the treatment cost is slightly higher, oil production can double. In the United States, a solution containing 48.5% potassium hydroxyacetate, 3.4% sulfamic acid, and 0.1-3% wetting agent is used to clean gypsum scale from oil well casings, with a treatment time of about 30 hours.^[16]

Agriculture

Sulfamic acid and ammonium sulfamate were initially developed as herbicides. It is claimed that when applied directly to plants, they act as contact poisons, while when applied to soil, they exhibit a sterilizing effect.
